Brandenburg's state agency for environment informs about embankment grazing and livestock guarding dogs
In 2017 livestock guarding dogs were deployed to protect flocks of sheep on the embankments.
Positive experiences have been reported from shepherds with livestock grazing on embankments at the Elbe near Mühlberg or at the black Elster in Southern Brandenburg. If sheep farms and people who travel along embankments adhere to certain rules, the risk of conflict along the highly frequented Elberadweg can be reduced. For shepherds specifically it means they should only deploy trained and certified livestock guarding dogs. For travellers it means that they have to stick to certain rules.
