The hike

history of the moor from two perspectives
Large fire falters, meadows overflowing with cotton grass, moaning sky goats, mysterious peat bites, dense reed belts and shallow lakes - the Rambower Moor in the Elbe-Brandenburg River Landscape Biosphere Reserve offers a habitat for numerous rare animal and plant species. Hundreds of cranes rest here during the autumn migration. In the evening they majestically circle the moorland, trumpeting loudly, before going to sleep. A twelve-kilometer circular route offers plenty of potential for discovery. Individual stations show the history of man and nature on the moor from two sides, a historical and a current one.

Tip from ranger Ricarda Rath

Ricarda Rath has been a ranger for the nature watch in Lenzen for years and knows the Rambower Moor like no other. She gives her insider tip exclusively for you:
»There are many beautiful places along the way. My favorite place is the „Rohrdommelturm“, because it offers a wide view of the moor and leaves a lot of space for discovery. Circling white-tailed eagles and juggling harriers. Its proximity to the reeds also reveals those who live in secrecy. For example the water rail, whose "squeak" can be heard from the dense jungle of plants. "
